New Citywide Internship Program in Austin

Posted Tuesday, May 03, 2011
by Lydia Hekman

BBB is partnering with the City of Austin, local universities, chambers of commerce, nonprofit associations and small businesses to collaboratively host the nation's first citywide internship program. The program, called Intern In Austin (IIA), was announced yesterday by Austin's mayor, Lee Leffingwell, as a joint effort to encourage the use of internships and connect the small businesses of Central Texas with student talent. Through this single source for internship information, we hope that our Accredited Businesses will be able to build a more effective internship program and engage energetic and educated resources to help advance marketplace trust.

On www.interninaustin.org you will find:

  1. Tools and templates to build an effective, annual internship program
  2. Resources to recruit interns for your organization all year round
  3. News/events for the program, including SBDP Trainings and a Citywide Internship Fair

If you are still looking for an intern(s) this summer, register to attend the program’s upcoming internship fair at the AT&T Conference Center on May 15.  For only $25, you will get the opportunity to speed network/interview an estimated 600 students that are interested in working for a small business this summer and beyond.  The event is on a Sunday so it won’t interfere with your busy workday or the students’ final exams. BBB will be there and we hope you will join us!

For those of you who are not in Austin but would like more information about this program or how about to start an internship program at your business, please contact info@campus2careers.com.
