Be Suspicious of Unsolicited Fax Transmissions

Most consumers and business owners receive unsolicted offers via e-mail, phone or mail. However, faxes can be used to push questionable offers as well, and we came across such an example today. The fax offered businesses a credit card or line of credit loan for what seemed like little work on the part of the business.

The fax references buzzwords and interest points such as "$25,000-$500,000," "LARGE Credit Cards $50-$250,000" and "Rewards/Cash Back benefits." While there were no huge red flags pointing towards an obvious scam, it's important to remember that unsolicited offers typically come from businesses you may not know and therefore may not be your best bet in receiving a line of credit or a credit card.

If you believe you may need a business loan or a credit card, first review your credit report, come up with a business plan on how you would use the money and a payment plan to keep yourself on track. And of course check any company out with BBB before signing up.
