The extreme heat Texas has been experiencing the past few months is taking a toll on local homes. Better Business Bureau has received more than 2,700 inquiries on foundation repair contractors since June, a 75 percent increase from this time last year.

With today’s 2010 tax return deadline and resulting refunds arriving in the next few days, BBB understands consumers will take the opportunity to use this extra money to buy a used vehicle. However, BBB warns that used car dealers were one of the most complained about industries last year with over 400 complaints. While the majority of complaints were resolved, many disputes could have been prevented by consumers taking the time to ask detailed questions and research dealerships in advance.

BBB has issued an F rating to San Antonio-based Pick-Ups, Inc., a local automobile and truck dealer, for failure to respond to consumer disputes. BBB has processed 9 complaints against Pick-Ups, Inc. in the last 12 months, none of which have yet been answered by the company.
