Central Texas-area consumers should be on the alert for door-to-door meat salespeople, according to multiple complaints recently filed with BBB. In the same fashion BBB warned about last April, consumers continue to allege that the representatives use high pressure sales tactics to collect hundreds, sometimes thousands, of dollars in cash and then never deliver the meat.

Reports to BBB state sales representatives use high pressure sales tactics, claiming the policies have a limited enrollment period and asking consumers for personal information.

First Phase of 2010 Census Ends Friday

Friday, April 16th is the final day to mail in the 2010 Census questionnaire. Households that have not submitted the form by Friday will be visited by a census worker starting May 1st. The US Census Bureau has created a toll free number (1-866-872-6868) for consumers who did not receive a questionnaire to request one be mailed or to respond to the questions via phone.

2010 US Census Begins

Every ten years, the US federal government is required to count every citizen in the country. The US Census Bureau is mailing questionnaires this week and participation is required by law. In 2000, only 68 percent of Texas residents returned their Census form and the bureau estimates that each one percent increase in mail response will save $85 million.
