BBB Military Line® Director, Mrs. Petraeus, Commemorates Military Saves Week
Austin, TX – February 17, 2010 – Military Saves is a national campaign to persuade, motivate and encourage military families to save money. In conjunction with Military Saves Week, which takes place February 21st through 27th, BBB serving Central, Coastal and Southwest Texas will host BBB Military Line Director, Mrs. Holly Petraeus, who has elected to spend this important week promoting financial readiness in Texas. Mrs. Petraeus will make appearances in San Antonio, Corpus Christi, Austin and Killeen to speak at various events highlighting BBB Military Line programs.
“Mrs. Petraeus is a champion for financial readiness and her work with BBB impacts the well being of our servicemen and women in a very positive way,” said Carrie A. Hurt, President and CEO of BBB serving Central, Coastal and Southwest Texas. “It is a privilege for our community to host Mrs. Petraeus next week.”
BBB Military Line provides free education and outreach for military personnel and their families as part of the US Department of Defense’s Financial Readiness Campaign. While in Texas, Mrs. Petraeus will deliver the keynote address at BBB’s 59th Annual Meeting and meet with military, business and civic leaders throughout the region to launch a new BBB Military Line curriculum.
“Supporting this program is just one small way for us to show our gratitude toward our military and repay the debt of their service by investing in their future financial goals,” said Eric Hehman, CFP and Chief Executive Officer of Austin Asset Management Company.
Military Saves Week highlights the promise to save money, reduce debt and build wealth over time. Since its inception in 2007, over 58,000 individuals, including nearly 22,000 military servicemen and women, have taken the pledge toward financial readiness through Military Saves.
“Armed with financial information, we are helping our troops win financial freedom,” said John Henry McDonald, CFP, Chairman of the Board and Founder of Austin Asset Management Company.
